Byzantine Time traces its origins back to the era preceding the Byzantine Empire and can be found among the Ancient Judeans. This unique time system relies on unequal hours similar to those marked by a sundial. In contrast to modern timekeeping conventions, in Byzantine Time, a new day commences at evening rather than at midnight.

This application necessitates access to GPS for its functionality. However, users also have the option to manually input longitude and latitude coordinates in the settings.

The tradition of Byzantine Time is preserved by Holy Monks residing on Mount Athos in Greece. The Eastern Orthodox Church continues to observe the Prayer Hours in alignment with this historical timekeeping practice.
